Andrew Thornton

AMI Awards Head Judge, AMI Board Director

Andrew is a Non-Executive Director (and Past Chair) of the Australian Marketing Institute. He is a Life Fellow of the AMI (Life FAMI) and a Certified Practicing Marketer (CPM). 

In 2020, Andrew was the Head Judge of the Board assessed awards: CMO of the Year, CPM of the Year, Sir Charles McGrath Award and Life Membership.

Andrew is a highly experienced marketing and management professional; he is a strong advocate for professionalism in marketing.

Andrew is the Executive Director of Bridge Street Consulting. BSC engages with clients to develop and deliver effective business growth strategies.  He is also Co-Founder and Director of The Customer Edge, a specialist consulting practice focused on working with clients to develop customer centric strategies to underpin excellence in customer experience outcomes.

He is also a Non-Executive Director of Fishburners – Australia’s largest tech start-up community: where start-ups start, grow and succeed.

Prior to moving into consulting, Andrew held CMO, CEO and Executive Management roles with market leading organisations including Transurban, Pacific Micromarketing (now Experian), St. George Bank, Optus and AMP.

Kristie Atkins

AMI Awards Head Judge, Managing Partner – Wink

A dynamic business growth and commercial leader, a Certified Practicing Marketer, fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute, head judge of the Awards for Marketing Excellence and member of AICD. Kristie is Managing Partner of Wink, which works with clients from industries including retail, telco, property, utilities, technology, lifestyle, hospitality and entertainment to win and keep them customers.

Previously she served as Managing Director in renowned marketing solutions business Edge, as Chief Operating Officer of Waivpay, Chief Commercial Officer for marketing services giant Ovato and Director of Sales for Event Hospitality & Entertainment, after beginning her career in the media.

Kristie is also on the board of Restaurant & Catering Industry Association Australia, the Foundation board of leading medical research institute HMRI and chairs HMRI Sydney Foundation.   

Chris Taylor

CMO for the Heart Foundation

Chris is a marketer with a track record of delivering results through an effective mix of strategy, analytics and creative thinking. He has worked across multiple sectors, from FMCG, financial services to education and retail. Chris is now the CMO for the Heart Foundation, working to reduce heart disease risk across Australia. In 2019 he launched the multi-award-winning Serial Killer campaign that compelled the Government to fund Heart Health checks under the Medicare system.  As Chief Marketing Officer at the Heart Foundation, Chris is directing the marketing, fund raising, digital and media/communications functions to help achieve the organisations vision of an Australia free of heart disease.

Christopher Melotti

Melotti Media Copywriting

Christopher Melotti is a well-established and renowned Australian Content Marketing and Copywriting Professional who lives by the motto, “Continually challenge, consistently grow, constantly humbled, confidently show.”

Christopher founded, manages and is the head Marketing Copywriter of Melotti Media Copywriting and Message Marketing Bureau, where he and his team work with a wide range of clients from Insurance, to Real Estate, Marketing, Creative Agency, Web Design, Logistics, HR, Finance and much more.

Christopher has won many prestigious awards for his work, the most notable being the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of the Year award in 2017 (Australian Marketing Institute) and teaches a range of professional classes across Australia every month.

2020 has certainly been a challenging time, during this period we’ve seen how resilient and strong our community is.

As part of the event, we’ve invited Natalie Egleton, CEO of the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR), to share her experience on how not-for-profit organisations are tackling the challenges. You’ll also hear how AMI supports the community by providing small and medium-sized businesses with marketing knowledge and tools they need.

Natalie Egleton

CEO, Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR)

Natalie Egleton is passionate about facilitating effective responses to issues facing rural communities.

She was appointed CEO of FRRR in November 2015, after joining FRRR in 2012 and is responsible for shaping FRRR’s strategy, designing new programs and developing and nurturing new funding partnerships. In her previous roles with FRRR, she was responsible for managing natural disaster recovery and preparedness programs as well as those addressing social innovation. 

Before joining FRRR, Natalie consulted with Matrix on Board, working with numerous not-for-profit organisations in program evaluation, undertaking research analysis and developing business plans. She also worked with clients to develop financial policies and procedures, strategic plans, organisation reviews, service mapping, feasibility studies and governance models.

Natalie has also held in-house roles at Evolve (Typo Station) and at ANZ Banking Group, implementing projects that made a tangible difference to the lives of people living in rural, regional and remote Australia.

She relocated from Melbourne to the small rural town of Maldon in central Victoria, where she lives with her husband and two girls.

Billie Cox

Business Development Manager, AMI

Billie has over 20 years’ experience as a sales and training industry professional, she has worked across the event management, business development, sponsorship and marketing industries. She has managed over 2000 events – from street parades, conferences, gala dinners, charity events, live music events and TV shoots.

Billie was formerly Senior Business Development Manager with the Merivale Group where she made a dramatic impact on sales volumes and worked with over 300 corporate clients.

With the birth of her first son, she made a career change and became the Senior Lecturer at College of Event Management where she lectured, numerous subjects and managed the national industry partnerships and student placements. During this period Billie created and taught a sold out Sales workshop around the country. Billie also still lectures at UTS and Meetings and Events Australia. 

Billie was then head hunted by Australia’s leading event agency Belle Laide Events and joined their team as the Client Engagement Manager. During this period Billie has led the tender process for numerous large corporate accounts.

Currently Billie is the Business Development Manager at the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI), in a short period she has implemented digital credentials, marketing skills assessment where AMI can evaluate soft skills, cognitive skills and marketing concepts across six key areas of marketing.

Billie is the MD of The Venue Mavens a venue consulting company specialising in strategic planning and training across all areas of the business.


National winners will be announced during the 2020 Marketing Excellence Awards Ceremony and Gala which will be held virtually on 15 October 2020.
