Tech companies lead LinkedIn’s 2025 top companies list for career growth in Australia

LinkedIn has unveiled its 2025 Top Companies list for Australia, spotlighting the best workplaces for career advancement. ServiceNow leads the list, followed by Atlassian. The only non-tech company to make the top five was Commonwealth Bank, ranking third and followed by Amazon and Oracle.
The list is derived from LinkedIn data that evaluates career progression metrics, including employee promotions, skills acquisition, gender diversity, and employer benefits. According to LinkedIn, its top-performing companies reflect a broader trend where AI upskilling opportunities are becoming increasingly important for Australian professionals. AI literacy has emerged as the leading focus in LinkedIn’s 2025 Skills on the Rise list.
The methodology behind LinkedIn’s list is based on eight pillars: Ability to advance, skills growth, company stability, external opportunity, company affinity, gender diversity, educational background, and employee presence in the country. The list aims to assist professionals in identifying companies that offer substantial career growth and upskilling opportunities.
Rounding out the top 10 were Telstra (6th), Adobe (7th), Mastercard (8th), ThermoFisher Scientific (9th) and Resmed (10th). The top 20 also includes numerous tech players including cybersecurity vendor CrowdStrike (11th), Alphabet (12th) and Canva (20th). There are other financial services firms in the top echelons of the rankings too, including Suncorp Group (21st) and Macquarie Group (24th).
Cayla Dengate, LinkedIn Career Expert, highlighted the competitive nature of the Australian job market: “As Australia’s job market remains competitive, finding and landing a job where you can grow is top of mind for many.”
Dengate noted the impact of AI on job roles: “With AI transforming roles across all industries, learning new, in-demand skills is increasingly important among professionals and a key consideration for job seekers when looking at potential future employers. LinkedIn research shows three in five (59%) of Australians are looking for a job this year, with 36% believing that learning and development opportunities are crucial when deciding whether to apply for a job.”
Peyton Caffey, ANZ HR Director at ServiceNow Australia and New Zealand, commented on the company’s top ranking: “As a rapidly growing company always on the hunt for top talent, we focus on both attracting and retaining high-performers. One of the ways we do this is through the ServiceNow People Pact, which is our promise to employees. It commits we will support each other to deliver our best work, live fulfilling lives, and pursue our collective purpose.
“We achieve this by fostering a sense of community, by prioritising training, growth and career development, celebrating individuality, and offering benefits that really matter to our people; like generous family leave, health & wellbeing programs, flexible and remote working options.”
According to Caffey, the team sees itself as ‘customer zero’. “We use all our own tools and technology to help employees work efficiently, wherever they are. This streamlines and automates how we work, giving time for our people to focus on what matters most to their careers and wellbeing.”
Amazon Director of HR – Australia, Pritho Saxena, was proud LinkedIn has recognised Amazon Australia’s commitment to “providing the resources and opportunities for people to thrive”.
“This incredible recognition is testament to Amazon’s ongoing efforts to create a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic workplace. We are proud that this ranking reflects that commitment and the incredible contributions of our employees every day.”
Atlassian emphasised flexibility and growth. “At Atlassian, our focus is on creating an environment where our people can thrive and this recognition from LinkedIn is a testament to this relentless pursuit,” Avani Prabhakar, Chief People Officer, stated. “Our Team Anywhere policy gives Atlassians the flexibility to work where they’re most productive, with 92% stating that it allows them to do their best work and achieve their highest potential while providing opportunities for continuous growth.”
Telstra also received recognition, with Kathryn van der Merwe, Group Executive, People, Culture and Communications, expressing pride in the company’s achievements.
“We’re proud to be recognised by LinkedIn for our dedication to creating a workplace where our teams can thrive and grow their careers. We’ll continue to prioritise our employees’ wellbeing and development and offer benefits that truly matter to our people.”
