Industry awards for CALD marketing shines a light on authentic cultural understanding to drive engagement and growth

Being awarded AMI’s Data-driven Insights Award and The Agency Campaign of the Year Award is a testament to our industry’s growing understanding of the changing nature of Australia’s diverse multicultural landscape. With 56% of Australians either born overseas or have one parent born overseas by 2026, it is more important than ever before that marketers turn their attention to how they reach and engage these expanding audiences.

At CulturalPulse, we understand that much of Australia’s mainstream marketing and advertising leave some of our largest communities feeling unseen and unheard. So, winning these industry awards helps us to deliver on our mission to activate today’s multicultural Australia.

Our approach connects cultural communities and fosters a sense of belonging through meaningful communication and engagement. Industry accolades that acknowledge the scale and impact of our work allows CulturalPulse to genuinely put a spotlight on multicultural marketing, deep cultural understanding and authentic storytelling.

Awards deliver brand reputation and fame

Since being announced as a winner at the AMI awards, CulturalPulse has continued to be recognised as an industry leader in multicultural marketing with greater visibility in market. This provides a huge boost to our credibility and positions us positively to respond to client opportunities and partnerships in the future.  Showcasing the FIFA Women’s World Cup Fan Engagement project allows CulturalPulse to illustrate the breadth and power of our Cultural Ambassador Network of more than 5000 community members, many of which were inducted into the program as Cultural Champions to drive ticketing outcomes for the tournament.

With a respected industry body such as AMI supporting CulturalPulse, it opens the door and elevates the conversation about the importance of engaging multicultural communities. Not just as an add on marketing activation, but as a core and critical way to reach Australian audiences. As a result, CulturalPulse anticipates further opportunity to provide a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) perspective on industry panels, thought leadership discussion and in media features.

Our experience with the awards process

CulturalPulse’s journey to winning these two prestigious awards was a great experience. The submission process was straightforward and allowed us to showcase our work in a way that truly reflected the project and the impact it had on the FIFA Women’s World Cup fan engagement and ticket results. It also played a role in bringing cultural communities together, resulting in greater social cohesion and genuine sense of belonging amongst cultural fans.

The gala awards evening held in Federation Square in Melbourne was a huge highlight. Our team felt genuinely celebrated among a room full of talented industry leaders. It was incredible to celebrate the outstanding achievement and innovation on show from across the Australian marketing industry, and to be honoured for our approach to data and insight-driven marketing amongst the 17 different campaign categories and agencies was both humbling and inspiring.

Our advice for future nominees

Based on our own award experience, our advice for future nominees is simple – think big, showcase innovation, and stay authentic when sharing the campaign approach and the impact it has had. A few key pointers would be to:

Think outside the box – Consider how to challenge a traditional marketing approach. Innovation and industry leadership is what sets winning campaigns apart.

Audience first – Whether it’s through storytelling, data-driven insights, or tailored engagement strategies, ensure your work truly connects with and impacts the audiences it aims to reach to drive behaviour change and brand impact.

Impact driven – Awards judges and industry peers are looking for measurable success and tangible achievement. Demonstrating how your work has driven impact, whether through audience engagement metrics, brand growth, or cultural behaviour change and understanding, will set your submission apart.

Consider Australia’s diversity – Australia is one of the most culturally complex and diverse countries in the world. Campaigns and projects that support and celebrate our diversity through creativity, storytelling, brand, and experiential marketing activities will lead the way for others to follow.
