Ampfibian campaign sparks 23% sales surge and 65% brand awareness bump

Australian caravan electrical safety brand Ampfibian has reported significant gains following a recent marketing campaign address the issue of unsafe, homemade caravan leads.

The campaign, created in partnership with full-stack marketing studio Windsorborn, employed comedic storytelling and character-driven narratives to engage a previously disengaged audience. The creative highlighted the risks associated with using unsafe DIY caravan power adaptors, positioning Ampfibian as a safer alternative.

The campaign encompassed a 60-second hero video, short-form content, and static imagery, which were distributed across various platforms including Meta, Reddit, and print media. It resulted in a 23% increase in sales and a 64% rise in brand awareness over a three-month period.

Managing Director of Windsorborn, Will Reynolds, said: “The brief highlighted some significant marketing challenges including it being a low-interest category, cultural resistance and conservative budget. We needed to create an impact that worked hard across multiple channels… At the heart of the campaign is a daring character whose comedic charm disarms the audience and draws them into the message. The character’s interactions with the electrical safety enthusiast, who’s a recurring Ampfibian personality adds continuity and reinforces the brand’s identity.”

“Our idea was to celebrate the so-called ‘bravery’ of those who risk everything, their homes and even their lives, by using unsafe DIY caravan power adaptors instead of an Ampfibian adapter. We turned the spotlight on these daring individuals with sharp, satirical humour,” said Reynolds.

Ampfibian, known for its innovation in portable power solutions, launched the first portable caravan adaptor over a decade ago. The recent campaign aimed to challenge entrenched habits among long-time caravanners and increase brand awareness.

Director of Ampfibian, Oliver Kratzer, said: “The new campaign was creative, hilarious and sharply executed. And most importantly delivered business results.”
