Shopify APAC director of marketing exits

Robin Marchant has confirmed his departure from Shopify after a more than four-year tenure as director of marketing for APAC.

In a LinkedIn post, Marchant said: “After what’s been an incredible journey with Shopify on this wonderful rocketship, it’s time for me to bid a fond farewell…

“Reflecting on the past 4+ years fills me with immense pride. Contributing to Shopify’s rise, especially across the APAC region, has been the opportunity of a lifetime. Together, we’ve turned challenges into milestones and dreams into reality, cementing Shopify’s role as the leader of commerce.”

Prior to Shopify, Marchant was the CMO for MedicalDirector, a health software platform. He was also formerly global marketing director of Squiz and has built his career across technology and tech services companies.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed to Mi3 Jasmine Workman is currently acting Director of Marketing while the recruitment process is underway for a permanent replacement.

Marchant said he has a “new adventure” to build another brand, but hasn’t shared further details at this stage.

“A huge shoutout to Shopify, a platform that not only dreams big but also achieves even bigger (and as a customer myself, I can say it’s truly spectacular)! To my fellow Shopifolk, your brilliance and dedication have been the foundation of our success globally and across this amazing region!” he said.

“To the countless wonderful humans who’ve been part of this journey with me – your collaboration, support, and vision have been crucial in taking APAC to new heights. Keep pushing, keep innovating, and keep nurturing this incredible community we’ve built together. I want to take this moment to say a massive thank you to Shopify and a warm, heartfelt thanks to so many of you (you know who you are!) who’ve been part of this amazing journey with me.”
