Pepperoni and marriage proposals top Domino’s 2024 pizza trends in first Australian ‘Pizza-bilities Report’

Domino’s has released its inaugural ‘Pizza-bilities Report’, a snapshot of pizza trends in Australia for 2024. The report includes trends, toppings, and quirks that have defined the year in pizza, including 12 marriage proposals to Domino’s delivery drivers.

The most popular pizza order in 2024 was the classic Pepperoni Pizza, with Domino’s delivering more than 1,300 tonnes of Pepperoni to Aussie customers – the equivalent of 8 blue whales.

The data also revealed that more Australians added pineapple to their orders than removed it, with pineapple being added more than 1.1 million times and removed only 650,000 times.

Australia’s top five pizza ingredients were Pepperoni, Mozzarella, Beef, Tomato, and Spinach. The busiest day of the year for Domino’s was July 26th, coinciding with the Summer Olympics opening ceremony. The busiest Domino’s store in 2024 was in Surry Hills, and Queensland had the most orders out of all the states, followed by NSW and Victoria.

The single biggest order in Australia in 2024 was for 370 pizzas. Garlic Bread was the most-ordered product across Australia with more than 3,000 tonnes delivered.

Domino’s Head of Product Development and Innovation, Michael Treacy, said Australians are hungry for innovation and that Domino’s thrives on pushing the boundaries of what pizza can be.

“This year, we’ve seen our customers embrace the classics while also diving headfirst into adventurous new creations – from Pizza Dogs to Cheese Volcanos. It’s clear Australians are hungry for innovation, and at Domino’s, we thrive on pushing the boundaries of what pizza can be. The possibilities are endless in our kitchens, and we’re just getting started. 2025 is shaping up to be our most exciting year yet – you won’t believe what’s coming next!”

Other notable finding from the report include a dozen marriage proposals to Domino’s delivery drivers, while the most bizarre order was a combination of extra red-hot sauce, onions, tomatoes, chicken, beef, pepperoni, cheese, jalapenos, bacon and chilli flakes.
