Airwallex, the Melbourne-founded global payments platform, has announced the appointment of Andrew Balint as its new Vice President of Marketing for the Asia-Pacific region (APAC), excluding China.
Balint brings 25 years of experience in the field, having previously held senior roles at Afterpay, Optus, and Amaysim. His expertise spans brand strategy, growth marketing, and customer experience.
Balint’s appointment comes at a time when Airwallex is experiencing significant growth. The company reported an 83% revenue increase across APAC in 2024, driven by new product launches such as Airwallex Yield and Airwallex for Startups. As part of his role, Balint will oversee marketing in key markets including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
Arnold Chan, General Manager, APAC at Airwallex, said, “We are delighted to welcome Andrew to our team at Airwallex. As we approach our 10-year milestone and expand our offerings into new products and markets, we’re privileged to have someone of Andrew’s calibre to lead our next phase of marketing across the Asia-Pacific region.”
In 2024, Airwallex announced a multi-year partnership with McLaren Racing and launched several new products, including Airwallex Yield, Spend, and Airwallex for Startups, which expanded to Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. The Airwallex for Startups program has attracted more than 2,000 startups.
Balint, who is based in Sydney, will assume his new role immediately.
“I’ve been watching Airwallex’s incredible growth and innovation and I’m thrilled to now be part of the journey. The global payments landscape is evolving rapidly and Airwallex is at the forefront of that change. With innovation and customer experience driving everything we do, I’m excited to help expand our presence and make a real impact across the APAC region.”
Airwallex, which supports over 100,000 businesses globally, was founded in Melbourne and has since become a significant player in the global payments landscape. The appointment of Balint, with his extensive experience and proven track record, is expected to further strengthen the company’s position in the APAC region.
