AGL and Saveful team up in the kitchen to promote energy-saving practices

AGL has formed a partnership with Saveful, an Australian app designed to assist households in turning everyday ingredients into meals, with the aim of promoting energy-saving practices in the kitchen.

This collaboration seeks to provide practical solutions for Australians to manage household expenses amidst rising living costs. Saveful offers a range of features including chef-created recipes, smart tips, and personalised hacks to help users save food, money, and time. The app has been operational since November 2023 and has already reached over 34,000 users across Australia. It has reportedly helped families save over 6,600 kilograms of food, more than $100,000, and over 12.5 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

Chief Marketing Officer at AGL, David Bland, stated, “We know people are looking for ways to save on bills. Our partnership with Saveful is intended to help more Australians discover practical ways to manage their household expenses.”

AGL is the first energy provider to partner with Saveful, marking a significant expansion in Saveful’s mission to help Australians maximise their resources. Founder and CEO of Saveful, Kim McDonnell, added, “AGL’s forward-thinking approach to improving sustainability and supporting the community makes them a natural partner for Saveful.”

Saveful partners with a variety of brands including Bakers Delight, BEGA, Nestlé, Birds Eye, Goodman Fielder, Rabobank, Qantas, SunRice, Always Fresh, SPC Global, Gumtree, Good & Fugly, Gander, Chief Nutrition, and OzHarvest Use It Up. The app remains free and accessible to all Australians, being particularly important during the current cost-of-living crisis.

The app offers features such as meal creation from home ingredients, expert cooking hacks, storage tips, savings tracking, and environmental impact monitoring. Users can also earn rewards like Qantas Frequent Flyer Points and Green Leaf badges through the app.

“This partnership is about more than energy – it’s about giving families practical, tangible tools to feel in control of their budgets and their household routines,” McDonnell concluded.
