Foxtel Group’s head marketer retires post Balboa relaunch
Foxtel Group’s Michael Nearhos will retire in 2025 after three and a half years as the cable TV and streaming business’ executive director of marketing and creative.
In a note sent to Foxtel Group staff, Hilary Perchard, the newly appointed chief executive of Foxtel BU and Hubbl, said Nearhos be remaining with the business until March, before transitioning into consulting work.
“I want to thank Michael for his incredible contribution to the Foxtel Group over the past 3.5 years,” wrote Perchard. “Starting with a major transformation of our operations and approach, he has driven our marketing and creative to be some of the most efficient and effective in the country, pursuing both consistency and innovation.”
Perchard credited Nearhos with the reimagination of the Foxtel brand, identity and customer communications, and this year’s relaunch of the Fox Creative as Balboa – positioning the in-house team to begin taking on external client work.
During his tenure Nearhos also oversaw the naming and design programs for Hubbl, rebuild Foxtel’s marketing creative processes to enable the production of “almost 25 video and 60 static assets” per day, led promotions, campaigns and brand transformation projects across Binge, Foxtel and Kayo.
“Above all else, I know Michael is most proud and passionate about cultural renewal and engagement. He has role modelled that you can achieve incredible results, while caring deeply about his team, creating strong people engagement, a collaborative environment and breaking down silos,” said Perchard.
Prior to joining Foxtel Group in 2021, Nearhos’ career spans a number client side marketing roles, including a stint as Virgin Australia’s GM of brand and marketing; five years with NAB, most recently as GM of brand experience; and various roles at News Corp, IAG and CBA.
Foxtel is currently searching for Nearhos’ direct replacement.
