James Chin Moody awarded Honorary Life Membership
The co-founder and CEO of Sendle, James Chin Moody, has been awarded Honorary Life Member of the AMI.
The AMI Board of Directors awards Honorary Life Member status to distinguished non-marketers that have made a discernible service to the profession of marketing, or an allied discipline, or a distinguished person whom the Board desires to honour, either for having rendered conspicuous service to the industry or in recognition of outstanding achievement. Whilst not a career marketer, James has impacted the e-commerce and digital space through his company Sendle.

James is an experienced senior executive and board member. He was a member of the Executive team at Australia’s national research agency, CSIRO, for eight years with organisational-wide responsibility for business development, government relations, international development and strategic foresight. He was also the Chief Systems Engineer for FedSat, the first Australian satellite to be launched in 30 years.
James is a recognised expert on innovation, sustainability and the circular economy. He is the co-author of “The Sixth Wave: How to Succeed in a Resource-Limited World”, which was published in 2010 in English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese.
James has served on Advisory Boards for companies such as Westpac Bank and General Electric and government boards such as the National Australia Day Council, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Australia Indonesia Institute. He has also held roles as an Australian National Commissioner for UNESCO and a Trustee for the Australian Museum.
He was a regular panellist and judge on the ABC TV program “The New Inventors” for seven years. He has been a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Councils for over 10 years, including Co-Chair of the Global Future Council on Digital Economy and Society and Vice-Chair of the Global Agenda Council on Intellectual Property.
James has a PhD in innovation theory from the Australian National University. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering (University Medal) and Bachelor of Information Technology (First Class Honours) from the Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Diploma in Accounting from Monash University. He has been named one of Australia’s Top 100 Most Influential Engineers (2005), a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum (2005), AFR Boss Magazine Young Executive of the Year (2007) and Young Australian of the Year in Science and Technology (2001).
