Member Spotlight: Matthew Gherardi
I’m a goal driven strategic thinker that applies a holistic big picture approach to marketing and eCommerce.
My marketing journey has spanned across both consultancy and in house roles within a variety of industries including technology, retail, luxury automotive, agencies and not-for-profit organisations. Early in my career, I moved to London where I was able to gain valuable experience in driving online growth for Pearson Cycles (now called Pearson1860) global brand and eCommerce store. After moving back to Perth, I took the step to setup my own freelance consulting business called Surge Marketing. Over the years I’ve been fortunate to be given the opportunity to work alongside some innovative WA businesses, be part of an incredible industry and network with other likeminded professionals.
The simple but poignant quote I reflect on often is “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much” – Helen Keller. This quote has not only helped me on my marketing journey, but reminds me of how important collaboration is between business and industry.
I was a member of AMI as a student when I was undertaking my undergraduate studies at Curtin University. As a consultant, AMI has provided many varied opportunities and resources to help me develop as a marketing professional. What I value about AMI is not only are they a credible leading industry body driven to advancing the profession, but they have an unwavering commitment to supporting each of their members. This extends to their Certified Practicing Marketer (CPM) credential, which I’m privileged to have received.
