Temu, Guzman y Gomez lead Australia’s fastest growing consumer retail brands

Temu and Guzman Y Gomez were Australia’s fastest growing consumer retail brands in FY25, each collecting more than 1 million new customers according to the latest data from Fonto.
Fonto has released its analysis of the Top 10 fastest growing consumer retail brands in Australia for the 2024-25 financial year. The study focuses on market penetration, defined by the number of new customers rather than total sales revenues, across FY24-25.
Temu ranked first, while QSR Guzman Y Gomez, which now operates over 210 locations across Australia came in second with almost 33% of the population purchasing from its restaurants during the financial year. That translates to an estimated 1 million new customers.
Bakers Delight was another prominent name on the list, coming in third. The privately owned group, which operates more than 500 stores nationwide, saw 38% of the population purchase at least once from its stores, up from 33% the year prior, also translating to almost 1 million new customers. Chemist Warehouse, which recently merged with Sigma Healthcare, also demonstrated significant growth, with 70% of Australians making a purchase at one of its pharmacy locations during the financial year, a gain of more than 700,000 new customers.
Global brands have also shown substantial growth in the Australian market. Temu, for instance, gained approximately 1.35 million new Australian customers, while Amazon Prime, which bundles its delivery service with access to Prime Video, continued to expand rapidly with market penetration up to 39%, gaining 1 million new customers. Booking.com also saw a rise in market penetration, moving from 11% to 15%, placing it sixth on the list. Other notable brands outside the top 10 include TK Maxx, Uber Eats, Zambrero, and SushiHub.
Fonto’s data is derived from financial transaction data from nearly 90,000 Australians, weighted against Australian Bureau of Statistics population estimates. This methodology provides a robust framework for understanding consumer behaviour and market trends in the Australian retail landscape.
