Yoto partners with The Wiggles as it increases Australian expansion
Yoto, a screen-free, ad-free, and mic-free audio player and content platform for children, has announced a significant partnership with The Wiggles as part of its expansion strategy in Australia.
The collaboration will see the launch of five new Wiggles Yoto Cards, including a remix album, which will be available at Kmart stores across the country.
The partnership is a key component of Yoto’s “global platform, local heroes” strategy, which aims to integrate globally recognised content with local cultural icons. Yoto has previously collaborated with major entities such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music, and Disney, further solidifying its position in the children’s content market.
Since its Australian launch in July 2024, Yoto has achieved notable success, with a player being sold every 10 minutes. The platform offers a wide range of content from partners like Penguin Random House, Universal Music Group, Macmillan, Sony Music, and Disney, among others. Yoto was founded in 2017 by Ben Drury and Filip Denker, drawing inspiration from Montessori educational principles.
The Wiggles boast over three billion music streams and six billion YouTube views. Their live shows consistently sell out across three continents, and their content is viewed in over 190 countries. The partnership with Yoto will make The Wiggles’ music and stories available in a screen-free format, promoting imaginative play among children.
Lachy Gillespie, known as The Purple Wiggle, said,”We are thrilled to be on Yoto. Being a father, I’m always trying to achieve a healthy balance with screen time for my own children. Yoto helps families take that pause and enjoy some imaginative play. The best way to help children switch off isn’t to tell them what not to do – it’s to show them there’s another way to play. Yoto really offers that! It shows little ones there’s an alternative to screens, bringing our music to them in a way that sparks curiosity and creativity.”
Sharina Simnett, Country Manager for Australia & New Zealand at Yoto, also commented on the collaboration, saying, “We’re so excited to welcome The Wiggles to Yoto. Their music has shaped childhoods for generations, and now families can enjoy it in a screen-free, imaginative way. The five new Wiggles cards are packed with a variety of audio, from popular nursery rhymes and their biggest classic hits, to a special remix album of nostalgic songs. This collaboration marks the beginning of a joyful partnership rooted in shared values – creativity, curiosity, and connection.”
The Wiggles Yoto Cards are available both online and in Kmart stores throughout Australia. Yoto’s content library now includes over 1,000 cards globally, featuring a diverse range of stories, music, soundscapes, and educational podcasts. Since its launch, Yoto has experienced an 80% increase in content card sales in the Australian market.
Yoto’s innovative approach has garnered recognition, with TIME Magazine naming the Yoto Player one of the Best Inventions of 2020. Additionally, the Yoto Mini and Yoto Player (3rd Generation) have received D&AD Pencils awards, further highlighting the platform’s impact and design excellence.
