Optus attempts to restore network confidence with no-cost, no-commitment 7-day mobile trial
Optus is launching a no-cost, no-commitment 7-day mobile network trial for Australians as a marketing play designed to drive more confidence in its network following the massive data breach and network outages that took over mainstream headlines in the least three years.
The trial, accessible via the My Optus app on an eSIM capable device, is designed to showcase the speed and coverage of the Optus mobile network.
Customers will have the flexibility to switch between their current service and the Optus network during the trial without any disruption to their existing service. The trial includes 30GB of data, unlimited standard national talk, and 1000 standard national texts for use within Australia.
“We’re incredibly excited to launch the Optus Network Trial. It’s a bold move that showcases our confidence in our network. With the convenience of eSIM and our highly-rated My Optus app, customers can keep their existing number whilst testing the Optus mobile network. We believe that once customers experience the Optus difference, they’ll make the switch with confidence,” said Maurice McCarthy, Managing Director Customer Success at Optus.
After the trial, customers can port their existing number when signing up to an Optus mobile plan. The trial service concludes automatically after 7 days, but customers can continue to enjoy the Optus network by moving to an Optus mobile plan.
Optus said the initiative is about providing an opportunity for customers to experience the network’s capabilities without any financial commitment. The telco has been recognised as Australia’s fastest 5G mobile network for download speeds six times in a row by Opensignal.
